As most of you know, on February 26th 2015, our beautiful Mum lost her life to the horrible disease, cancer.
There are no words to describe the pain of hearing that your stunning, caring, kind, fun loving Mum has this horrible disease and there is nothing anyone can do to save her. I also can not find the words to explain the heartache of watching the woman you look up to and rely on to tell you "everything will be Ok" , deteriorating in front of your eyes.
Our Mum was such a beautiful person. Her physical beauty was plain to see but only those who knew her know how deep her beauty went. She, like many others, did not deserve to suffer and certainly did not deserve to lose her life so young. She played a massive part in so many people's lives and her passing has left a hole, an emptiness that will never be filled.
Mum was cared for in Newry Hospice for ten weeks by staff who I can only describe as angels. They made sure that Mum's suffering was as painless and dignified as it could be. In addition to Mum's care, they supported our family in every way possible. No request was ever too big or too small, someone was always there to help.
However, this care and support costs a huge amount of money and I want to help raise some much needed funds so the hospice can continue providing this dignified care and support to many more patients and families.
My training has begun for a white collar boxing event taking place in the Canal Court on March 24th. This is a big challenge for me and things have started to get tough but I will never give up. I will battle on with the determination and bravery that my Mum had throughout her battle.
