My husband and best friend Fin was diagnosed with PTSD in febuary 2017 after been very poorly which he ended up in hospital for 4 weeks. This was horrendous time for him and us all to see my best friend so broken and their was nothing I could do. Fin is a veteran a ex Army Commando who did 22 years and never once in the 13 years of us been together had I seen him so bad. I had to make him realise he had something to live for.. for us and his daughter our family. He's always been sporty man and loved his kayaking but he also did dragon boating with me but obviously this all slipped when he got so mentally unwell. In time and after alot of support through the NHS and combat stress Fin found the strength to go back to his dragon boating and in April this year even after lots of self doubt he Trialed for GB and after anxious wait he was told he had been Selected to Compete with the GB team in Germany of this year. I am so proud of him and what he has achieved within the space of 10 months, he has really pushed himself to try and get back to normal as much as his PTSD will allow him too. He still has his bad days very bad days but slowly he is seeing he can achieve more than his PTSD tries to tell him he can achieve. He is trying so hard to overcome it. To get to Germany it is all self funded and Fin was made redundant in Dec due to his mental health..if any one can help no matter how small, we would be very grateful. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
