    Story

    At age 3, Louis our eldest son was diagnosed with autism. At that point in Louis’ life he had almost no speech and little understanding of language and social perception. As parents, Peter and myself had little knowledge of what autism actually was and how it would mould the rest of our lives forever. From that moment on we have done all we can to learn how best to support Louis in his language and his social and emotional needs.

    Louis attends Carlibar Communication Centre, a resource for primary children with additional support needs. He thoroughly enjoys his school life and receives intensive support for all his needs. It is a terrific support for Louis and all of the other children – unique in the West of Scotland but it needs help!

    Autism had been described by some as seeing the world from a different angle and as parents of Louis there is no one that knows this better than us. Louis does not always learn through conventional paths so we are always eager to help him find new ways of learning.

    Fundraising for CCC

    As a result we are raising funds for CCC and for Louis and his schoolmates to have new and exciting therapies.

    This would include:

    • a movement therapy room;

    • upgrading the softplay room;

    • establishing a therapy room; and

    • also working towards a sensory garden.

    All of this is desperately required and you can be of great help here. We would ask that you please give generously.

    Much love,

    Lisa and Peter
