Story
Once part of South West Trains "3-CIG" No.1499 nicknamed "Lisa", this carriage ran on the "Lymington Flyer" services from Brockenhurst - Lymington Pier towards the end of its life in 2005.
It was sold for preservation to the Dean Forest Railway in Gloucestershire where sadly it suffered relentless vandalism until it was disposed of in 2013. Network Rail purchased this carriage with the intention of converting it into an "Ultrasonic Test Unit" vehicle, but this was not to be.
In December 2017 it was put up for auction and following a successful bid it has once again returned to preservation.
Your help is needed to repair the many years of neglect and vandal damage and restore it to its original British Rail Blue & Grey livery for future generations to enjoy.
The project is being headed by the 400Series Preservation Group which is a group of railwaymen whom all have in excess of 10 years experience with either preserving or professionally maintaining "Slam-Door Trains". Our cause has recently seen support from many big names in the railway industry, including Unipart Rail who have been amazingly generous in supplying us with countless boxes of obsolete spares for our preserved vehicles.
