I am part of Hayle Pilot Gig club, and as a growing club, we are finding it hard to cater for all the new rowers wanting to join in. So we're raising money for a new training gig which will enable us to get more people old and young out onto the water.

Our fundraising efforts will start with a sponsored walk from North Quay Hayle to Godrevy Lighthouse and back on Saturday 11th March. A total of nearly 10 miles.

Please donate what you can to our cause. Although the target for this fundraising page is only £200, this is just my own personal target for our sponsored walk, the club as a whole will be aiming to raise £9,000 in total over this coming year.

Founded in 1976 as Hayle Rowing Club, we are one of the longest standing and most established rowing clubs in Cornwall. We are based in the growing hub that is Hayle Harbour, rowing from the beach slipway on North Quay where tides permit.

Today, with over 50 active members, we are continuing to grow, boasting a full complement of juniors, men’s, women’s, and veterans crews competing throughout the year at regattas all over the South West. We offer year-round training for all our members; including circuit training, indoor rowing, social rowing, and crew racing. Throughout spring and summer months, the club is active around Hayle harbour, with many squads training hard to represent the club at weekly regattas.

Each summer we host the County Under 14’s Championships, which is the only event in the racing calendar purely for the U14’s. Copperhouse Pool provides the ideal location – safe, easy viewing for spectators, and good access. We are proud to hold this event and believe it is a great benefit to the town, bringing hundreds of people to the area from all over the county. We thank the Harbour Authority and the Town Council for allowing us to continue hosting this prestigious event.
