Six years ago, my aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer. After a long fought battle, it seemed to have gone. But it came back, first in the lungs, then in the liver. My aunt is very fit and very disciplined and so was able to go through more chemotherapy: the cancer went and once again that seemed to be the end of it. Unfortunately, it came back a third time, now affecting her brain - where conventional chemotherapy is not effective. Her oncologist has proposed a new, still experimental but very promising treatment using an immunotherapy drug. This has not yet been used on the brain, but after recent breakthroughs, they think it may work. However, at this stage of its development the procedure is not covered either by the French public healthcare system or by private health insurance. The treatment is likely to cost them many tens of thousands of euros. Friends and family have rallied round, but the more the burden can be shared the lighter it will be for everyone!

I've made this page because I would like to help my aunt in any way that I can. At the end of last term I shaved my head to raise awareness about the consequences of cancer and all the new treatments that are about to be finalised and could change everything - not just for my family but for all of us in the future. Please help me to do my bit!
