Iʼve raised £435 to keep Love Lane Green community garden safe for children to play in. We need a petrol lawn mower so that brambles can be kept under control.

    Story

Love Lane Community Garden began as an initiative to combat the problem of flytipping. The South Norwood and Crystal Palace communities came together in November 2015 to clear the green of rubbish and brambles. Since then we have planted fruit trees, sown wild flowers and created a space where children can play.

Volunteers regularly maintain the space, but its hard going with handtools, and sometimes tall grass and brambles are too tempting for fly tippers. We would like to raise enough funds to purchace a petrol lawnmower, this would be labour saving, so our volunteers time can be utilised more effectively.

Fundraising ended today. Thank you everyone for your support and donations, we raised a fantastic £435, which is more than enough to fund the purchase of a new lawn mower. We've also had a donation of a lawn mower in the mean time, which we also have enough to fund the repairs needed. BST wishes to you all ❤️

Thank you for all of the donations, and still they're coming in. With these extra donations Friends of Love Lane will be able to widen the scope on machinery, safety equipment, planting and other materials, to keep this space accessible to the whole community. Truly overwhelming generosity ❤️

I've been volunteering at Love Lane Green since the beginning, November 2015. This site has helped to galvanise our community, bringing together neighbours and those from further afield. My role has been to organise, and keep everyone informed as to how they can get involved.
