    Story

Friends that skate together stick together.

We’re The Lady Roller Gang and we’ve been skating and supporting each other since 2012, initially starting out as just a pair of us that were daft enough to strap wheels to our feet when we were old enough to know better. We’ve grown into a team who supports new and old skaters to get on their roll.

One of our gang recently recieved the devastating news that her bastarding breast cancer has mestasised and what do you do when you love skating but hate cancer? You put your boots on of course, you pull those laces tight, wipe the tears from your eyes and you roll.

If you can see our profile picture you will see Kirsty there in the centre, just one week since diagnosis, dressed in yellow, skates on, smile from ear to ear and surrounded by so much love, holding us through the news as much as we are holding her.

Kirsty has a whole lot to stick around for, of course there’s skating and her gang, that new pair of maybe Jack Boots to mount her Mistral plate on but there’s also her two wonderful/annoyingly human and oh so young children. She also always brings the snacks so she’s a keeper.

Kirst is originally from Sunderland so we’re starting with a “Skate to Sunderland“ skate-a-thon racking up 320 miles between us with the aim of raising sponsorship to fund alternative and supplemental treatment... she’s a tenacious bitch so she’ll probably make us skate to Spain next where she spent her teenage years...

If you’re able to donate, please do... or perhaps you’d like to raise some sponsorship and rack up some miles towards the skate-a-thon? If you’d like to get involved please contact us at ladyrollergang@hotmail.com

We’re an inclusive bunch of skate-a-holics. The lady bit is definitely tongue in cheek, not only because we’re probably not ladies but also because we have a very fine bunch of gents who are proud to roll with us too.

Come join us why don’t ya? We skate at The Bath Pavilion on North Parade (next to the Sports Centre) most Mondays and Wednesdays between 7.30 & 10pm and we’d love it if you came for a roll.

Apologies if this page has been quiet over the last couple of weeks. Wellsway School in Bristol and Wiltshire's very own Toe Jam Roller generously donated hall and skate hire so we have been full tilt organizing a benefit roller disco. If any of you are linked with us in facebookland you will have seen that we have been anything but quiet over there! Tonight is the night and we'll be rolling from 8-10 pm at Wellsway School Keynsham. come and join us if you are near enough?

A great big massive "skate love" thank you to everyone that has donated, shared or cheered us on. We've set a provisional date for our Skate-a-thon and we're hoping the weather will be compliant. There's also been the offer of a hall donated for a benefit skate session (big love to Toe Jam Rollers for donating skate hire, insuring and hall sourcing). We may combine the two or keep them separate... watch this space! We've also had the very generous offer from our wider skate family at Bath Pavilion to help us rack up those miles.
