Story
On the 10th May 2008, when I was 16, I attended a GCSE revision day at St Ambrose Barlow R.C. High School, Swinton, Manchester. I had no previous symptoms of heart problems or any health conditions. The teacher sent my class out for lunch. My friends and I were walking down the street toward the corner shop, when suddenly I collapsed. My friends at first thought I was joking around but then realised something was seriously wrong and shouted for help.
Luckily, a nurse was walking up the road, she instructed my friends on how to assist her as she began first aid. Over the road from where I had collapsed was an Ambulance Station, which had an active ambulance present. The paramedics used the ambulance's defibrillator and I was taken to hospital. I was subsequently in a coma for 3 months. I now have a implanted defibrillator in my chest. I still have the effects of my illnesses such as severe fatigue due to my heart condition and epilepsy due to being resuscitated, but I think myself lucky each day. If I had collapsed while in school I would not be here today, as they have only recently received defibrillator.

4 years agoThank you so much for everyone's support so far. This is something very personal to me, will hopefully pay for a defibrillator and give someone a chance of a life.
