Lyde Green is a brand new housing development area in North East Bristol. We're just starting the Neighbourhood Watch in Lyde Green and already have lots of volunteers to get it running.

The Neighbourhood Watch Scheme has many benefits including showing a community spirit with neighbours looking out for one another, a safer area with reduced crime rates, and even reduced home insurance.

Many people are aware of the Neighbourhood Watch because of the signs, and it is important to have signs in place to alert potential criminals that it is a Neighbourhood Watch area. The signage costs £12.50 for 2 small street signs for lamppost placement and in order to cover all of Lyde Green's currently occupied homes (around 750 homes in total as of April 2017), we'll need a minimum of 40 signs.

We are also looking into having signs at the main entrances into Lyde Green saying “You are entering a Neighbourhood Watch area”.

We're pleased that we have now received a large donation to cover the signage costs so we're now asking for donations from residents in Lyde Green, and anyone else who feels generous, to help us with our running costs, including setting up a website, running meetings like our upcoming AGM (18th September), and other community safety initiatives.

We also have window stickers (which are also included in welcome packs for all residents in Lyde Green) which can be placed in your car and home windows, so please do ask for these.

Hopefully we'll get the Neighbourhood Watch signs up in August/September 2017 and be preventing crime incidents in Lyde Green ASAP.
