Story
We are Magic Words Therapy, a team Speech and Language Therapists working in the UK. As a team we want to support another Speech and Language Therapy team which work for Yellow House Health and Outreach Services.
Yellow House Health and Outreach Services work with children and adults across Western Kenya with communication, or with eating, drinking and swallowing (dysphagia) difficulties. The team provide treatment, support and care to families across a variety of settings including, schools, hospitals and out in the community.
Speech and Language Therapy is not currently a recognised profession out in Kenya. There are currently 15 Speech and Language Therapists working Kenya with most working privately in the capital, Nairobi. This means that many children and adults who require dysphagia or communication intervention do not have access to a Speech Therapist. Yellow House is the only company offering free speech and language therapy in Western Kenya making it accessible for all.
We are currently fundraising to be able to send a member of the Magic Words Therapy team out to Kenya to work alongside the team in Summer 2019. We are running a variety of fundraising events including:
- Nearly New Toy Sale: one on 23rd March 2019 and another on 18th May 2019, 1-3pm at The Grove Ousedale.
- Tough Mudder, 1st June 2019. Northampton Saints.
- Pub Quiz, Newport Pagnell. Dates to be confirmed.
We look forward to seeing you at the events and hope to fundraise as much as we can for this amazing cause. You can read more about the work of Yellow House by following this link: https://www.yellowhouseoutreach.org
Thank you,
The Magic Words Therapy team.

Flights were a lot more than we had anticipated so to send out our therapist, Catherine, to Kenya for a whole month we are now looking to raise £1,500 but we are feeling optimistic... We have a car boot, toy sale, tough mudder, sponsored walk and pub quiz coming up which we will continue to keep you up-dated with! Thank-you again for all of your support! xxx
