Story
There are lots of commendable fund raising pages and many donations of food and drink and clothes being donated to the survivors.
This fund is slighty different.
We are looking to raise £300 for each survivor, we believe there are approx 125 at the moment.
What it is for is to give each one of them a money order for that amount NOW so they have some dignity to go and buy themselves a coffeee if they wish, get a bus out of the area for the afternoon for a sandwich and a coffee, or buy themselves some clothes they can call their own etc from say Primark.
This is intended to be a short sharp campaign, for NOW, not for in 3 weeks time, but NOW, not to be given to one of the local charities who may take weeks to distribute it, distrubute it NOW. We are going to ask one of the local celebrities who have already visited, if they would be kind enough to give out the individual money orders to these people, that way it will ensure its going directly to them, not subsumed into some larger spending pot, which although they are greatly needed, we feel a smaller direct pot is really really needed to be given as soon as possible.
If more than £300 per person is raised, it will all be divided up so that they each get exactly the same amount.
So please, please, lets give these people some dignity, let them have the ability to be human beings again while everything is getting sorted out, let them choose what to spend it on, who knows it may even be a night or two in a hotel instead of sleeping on a floor in the community centre.
PLEASE if you are collecting at work, or cubs or guides or church groups, please consider giving it to this fund. Everything helps no matter how small.
Thank you for taking the time to read this xx
