Weʼre raising £2,500 to 3d Print PPE for the NHS

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Story

We're fundraising to increase our production of Ear Protectors & Face Visors for the NHS. We've already got four machines hard at work printing this vital PPE, could you help us purchase more?

With a serious shortage of PPE in the NHS and our business closed due to COVID19 we've turned the machines that usually work in our model making workshop to producing these essential pieces of protection. However 3D printing is not a fast process and we need to increase the amount we can produce in a week. we also need essential cleaning products, the plastic for the machines as well as packaging materials.

Please consider giving any amount to help us reach our goal

Stretch Goals:

Each extra printer we purchase has the potential to increase our production. We're now making extra space for printers by moving equipment out of our Tearoom's Kitchen and the Gift Shop. At the end of the crisis we'll donate them to a local school, college or club.

What are we doing?

We're printing Ear Protectors and the frames for Face Visors.

Who are we working with?

We're liaising directly with the Procurement Teams at Nottingham University Hopsitals and Leicestershire Partnership Trust Hospitals.

What will you do with the printers after the crisis?

We'll donate them to a local school, college or club.

What do we usually use our printers for?

Our printers are based at the Soar Valley Garden Railway (Which is also our family home) where they are used to make parts for our trains and model villages. The railway teaches children (2yrs and up) to drive model trains.

In the past our printers have printed miniature street lights, railway signals, station signs, billboards, fences, furniture, spare parts, a working snow plow and even a diesel locomotive!

We're really excited to share the news that we've now made and delivered 6350 Ear Protectors to the NHS in the East Midlands. We're hugely grateful to not only you for donating but also to the hobbyist and commercial 3d printers alike that have helped with production. We're still committed to donating the machines purchased with your donations to local schools. For now the printers keep running and we hope to hit the 7000 mark soon!

How we've been using your donations: We've purchased two extra machines to increase production in our workshop (£1300), these are arriving this week. We've also part funded the purchase of a machine for a local 3d Printer to help increase his output (£50). We purchased a machine to loan to a 3d Printer in Derby (£300) We also used donation money to purchase filament and packing material. We hope to give at three of the above machines to a local school or club

3200 Face Mask Grips Delivered!! Thanks to your help we've sent over 3200 grips to frontline NHS Staff. But we're still not done! After liaising with the Procurement Officers at Nottingham University Hospitals and Leicestershire Partnership Trust Hospitals we'll be making regular deliveries into QMC, Nottingham City and the LPT Procurement Hub. The Hospitals will then distribute the grips to wards and staff well being centres.
