The Martinez family have formed the foundation after the unfortunate loss of Rick, and sadly just four months later, his elder brother Paul.

The Brothers have spent their lives working as successful musicians. Paul has played with artists ranging from Paice Ashton Lord, Cat Stevens and George Harrison, to appearing with Led Zeppelin in the 1985 Live Aid concert. He was the bass player in Robert Plant’s band with the single ‘Big Log’ being a great success. Rick played with artists ranging from The Adverts to Hawkwind, and was a successful session drummer.

In memory of Rick and Paul, we want to carry their passion forward to ensure that young people and the wider community have every opportunity possible to learn and play music

We have decided to begin fundraising before we have applied for Charitable Status, as we wish to launch the Foundation on the day of Paul's funeral on 6th March, 2024. We are a non-profit organisation.

Our family is multi-skilled in the music & creative arts industry. Consisting of a qualified teacher, violinist, pianist, clarinetist, singer, and scriptwriter. Also costume designer and textile artist. Of course, not forgetting Ray Martinez, who was a founder member of ‘Airwaves’ and is the last surviving Martinez brother. Ray wrote Cliff Richards hit song ‘The Only Way Out’. He also played with many artists such as Robert Plant, Iggy Pop, Del Shannon, The Teardrop Explodes, Gypsy, Showaddywaddy and Dave Edmunds.

Our aim is simple! Putting music back where it belongs, at the forefront of education and for the wider community.

As everyone is aware, funding for music and the arts in schools has been reduced to the bare minimum. We believe this could have a detrimental affect on young people in the future and we want to work towards reversing this trend.

We have teamed up with the famous Rockfield Studios in Monmouth, in order to help fund young people to attend their Master Class sessions and many more exciting projects we will be posting on our Instagram in the weeks ahead.
