Tina is inspiring. She left her country to escape appalling abuse and has remained focussed and positive throughout her difficult journey to better life in U.K.

I met Tina in 2012 at a Nottingham Citizens Assembly at St Nics church when she spoke to the 300 plus people about her experiences in Nottingham. She was applying for British status which meant that she was not allowed to take paid work. The family's accommodation was cramped and damp causing health problems, and they were destitute.

Her inspiring testimony opened my eyes to the plight of asylum seekers and refugees in UK and I want to help raise money for her legal fees to stay in UK

In 2015 they were granted Leave to Remain in UK! At last she could work and get paid. However, she must be re-apply in August 2017! And now the fees are as follows:

Tina is intelligent and creative with fluent English, and has completed 2 years of her Open University degree paid for by a charity. She has provided a loving stable environment for her family despite their troubles. She gives time freely to her church and wider community and works supporting people experiencing domestic abuse.

She managed to get paid work within 3 months, which is amazing after the de-humanising experience of immigration interviews that undermined her self-belief. Her work was part time, on minimum wage, but more than 16 hours a week so she didn't receive benefits.

As soon as she knew about the huge costs of her next application to remain in UK, she started saving. She has done 3 or 4 jobs a week, working up to 55 hours a week, all on minimum wage. The family live on the minimum, saving every penny.

She has raised the NHS fees and £1480 towards other costs.
