Story
Kirk and Hayley started the year 2017 full of hope and optimism. Kirk's self-employment was going well and Hayley was about to start a new job at the Defence Academy in Shrivenham, a place she knows well, having worked there before and where her Dad has worked for many years. They decided to move from Swindon to Shrivenham, to be handy for Hayley's new job and closer for Kirk's work in Oxford. They found a lovely house and enrolled their daughters in the local school and nursery.
Shortly after moving in, Kirk became unwell, with a variety of symptoms and many trips to the doctor and hospital. After six weeks of tests and eventually being admitted into intensive care, Kirk was diagnosed with non-hodgkin's lymphoma, which had spread to his brain. A six-month course of in-patient chemotherapy was prescribed, but by now Kirk was so weak (he had lost 4 stone at this point) that this treatment had to be postponed and delivered in smaller doses that his system could manage.
Meanwhile, Hayley had taken some compassionate leave to rush between hospitals in Oxford and Swindon, keeping the household together, looking after the children and, crucially, keeping working so that at least one income was being earned. Kirk has not been able to work since February and, being self-employed, his earnings stopped as soon as he became ill.
Their families have been supporting Kirk and Hayley as much as they can, but the loss of Kirk's salary has hit them all hard. Three thousand pounds would cover Kirk and Hayley's rent for three months and give them one less thing to worry about at this terribly difficult time. It would mean they could remain in their home, where Kirk could stay in between his chemo treatments, and also keep the children in school and nursery without uprooting them again.
Please give as much as you can afford to help this lovely family in their time of need.

7 years agoThank you everyone! We are nearly there at 78% and £2340, thanks to your kindness and generosity. Kirk is currently in hospital, having his latest round of chemotherapy, which is pretty gruelling. I visited him last week and he was in good spirits, he has a lovely en-suite room in Swindon's Great Western Hospital and the nursing staff are absolutely wonderful. Kirk and Hayley and the family are so grateful for your help, it will make a real difference to them. Please continue to share this link to all your friends and let's meet the target! xxx
