    Story

Our beautiful Matilda Rose was born at 3.27pm on Tuesday 20th September 2016 at St Mary's Hospital. We had known during pregnancy that Matilda had a genetic condition that affected the growth of her bones and most importantly, the growth of her chest. The medical staff were unable to confirm the specific type of condition and so we lived in hope that she would be born with a less severe outlook.
Matilda was born screaming and crying, something we were told not to expect. She lived for 23 hours, passing away very peacefully in our arms on 21st September. We chose the name 'Matilda' as it means 'brave in battle' - which is exactly what our little Tilly Bear was.

Matilda was taken straight to the NICU where we witnessed the most incredible nursing care, compassion and respect for both Matilda and us as her family. Our Bereavement nurse spent all day with us, helping us to prepare to say goodbye to our baby in what can only be described as a beautiful and incredibly peaceful time. She went above and beyond what her role as our nurse required and we will be forever grateful for her and the work she does.

We have chosen to raise funds for the NICU Bereavement Team in the hope that any funds raised in memory of her little life can help other people and families through what is truly the most painful time. The Bereavement Team have been an irreplaceable support for us as a whole family from Grandparents down to Matilda's big brother. By raising funds for the team in Matilda's memory, it will enable them to carry on with this wonderful service that they provide
