    Story

I have been lucky enough to get a ballot place in the RideLondon cycle event on July 29th (46 mile). For those that know me, I'm not built for cycling therefore this is definitely a challenge! I have decided to try and raise some money for a charity that we have become very aware of since moving to this area, Fabian's Childhood Cancer Trust.

"Fabian’s Childhood Cancer Trust supports families who have a child diagnosed with cancer. The aim is to make life a little bit easier for those going through difficult times and to let them know that someone cares."

Please check out the website so you can see the good work they are trying to do

They are a small charity, therefore everything donated, no matter how small, makes a huge difference. The Charity was set up for a very special reason...

Fabian was diagnosed with Leukaemia in 2006 at 4 years old, as a youngster growing up on the outskirts of London. After years of treatment at Kingston Hospital and two bone marrow transplants with his sister at the Royal Marsden and Great Ormond Street Hospitals, Fabian took part in a world-breaking gene therapy medical trial. Sadly, we lost Fabian, age 12, on Remembrance Day 11/11/2014.

If you can help, I would be extremely grateful and you'll be helping a very special charity

    Many Thanks in advance

    Matt

Additionally The Trust is supporting Professor Irving from The Irving Laboratory at Newcastle University in their research in to Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL)for children who have relapsed or are likely to relapse. Their results have prompted an international clinical trial of a MEK inhibitor for children who have multiple relapsed ALL. Ongoing work in the laboratory aims to work out whether MEK inhibitors would be even more effective in combination with other drugs and if used earlier in treatment might prevent relapse
