Story
Becks is 21 today (25th November) signifying 9 years of being very poorly after having a severe reaction to the HPV vaccine which triggered the symptoms associated with very severe Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME or ME/CFS). As a result she has been left totally bedbound, unable to sit up and needing help with even the most basic of needs. She has to deal with unimaginable muscle fatigue and pain amongst many other symptoms including being unable to tolerate light, sound or smell. As well as that she needs a tube for her fluids and medications and has to have help with even the simplest of tasks throughout the day and night.
It is 2 years since the MERF Team asked for your help in raising funds for a treatment not funded by the NHS. Since she started it in July 2015, she is showing some very small but positive signs; consequently, this improvement means we need to plan for the next stage.
We are trying to get a specialised wheelchair to enable her to get out of bed, initially by laying down, then in a sitting position and eventually in a standing weight bearing position. This chair will allow Becks a life outside of her bed, outside of her bedroom and make it possible for her gradual rehabilitation. This is an opportunity that she really deserves in order to start enjoying life as she should be able to.
Please donate today to help make this a reality for Becks.

My daughter had ME as A result of Glandular Fever at a similar age as when Rebecca became ill. It was incredibly difficult as a parent so my heart goes out to Rebecca & family. Xx
