Supporting Older People (SOP) is a charity that helps those who feel lonely to feel more connected and to lead happier lives.

SOP was founded in 1982. It is a charity, aiming to alleviate loneliness and isolation often experienced by older people living on their own.

Meadowside Academy are raising money for SOP via our 'Musical Minutes' fundraiser. 9 million people in the UK would class themselves as lonely or isolated. This equates to 14% of the population. Music is a way of connecting people. Although we cannot all be together at the moment, we can use music to feel closer. By bringing our school community together through music, we are hoping to raise money to support the work of SOP (Supporting Older People).

Our 'Musical Minutes' fundraiser will allow all children to get involved. Children will record a minute of music; by singing, playing an instrument, dancing to music or making music with items that can be found around the home...the more creative the better!

Meadowside Academy have been set a target to make a musical performance video, collating everyone's 1 minute of music.

I'm sure it will be the greatest show and hopefully raise vital funds for SOP at the same time!
