Story
Meadows of Peace, the new Muslim cemetery:
The proposed Meadows of Peace Muslim cemetery is situated within the Memorial Woodlands, a natural burial ground near Bristol. The Memorial Woodlands have offered two meadows to be set aside for the exclusive use of the Muslim community and are currently creating awareness of the project with a view to pre-selling 400 burial plots before 29th February 2016 which will secure the site.
Open 365 Days a Year:
The Meadows of Peace will be open to visitors 365 days a year and will possess the relevant permissions for Janazah (Islamic funerals) on weekends and bank holidays, ensuring that communities can perform Salatul Janazah (funeral prayers), bury the departed, and carry out Fard al-Kifiyah (personal & communal obligations) without the delays often experienced in UK cemeteries.
Generous Plot Sizes
Working alongside local communities, Mosques, Imams and Muslim funeral directors the Memorial Woodlands have commissioned Kim Wilkie, a landscape designer, to produce designs for the new Muslim cemetery. Paramount to the design is that each body will face Qiblah, that the position of the finished grave is well marked and the space between plots generous. We fully believe that the Meadows of Peace will provide a natural burial ground that caters for the requirements of Islamic custom.
