Expedition to Madagascar

My name is Megan and on the 6th July 2018 I will be travelling to Madagascar to take part in Momo's Water project, which supplies a local village with clean and safe water. The expedition is entirely dependant on fundraising and so I am hoping this page, along with many other activities I will be taking part in, will help me raise the whole £4,000 needed to fund the trip.

Madagascar is one of the poorest countries in the world and has a rapidly growing population. Currently, over 11.7 million people in Madagascar don't have access to safe water, which results in widespread disease and a high death rate. Over 4,000 children die every year from diarrhoeal diseases caused by dirty water and lack of sanitation, and women and children frequently spend up to 3 hours a day travelling long distances to collect water which is unsafe to drink. Momo's water project will supply a small village with clean, fresh water, allowing more spare time for women and children and a significant improvement in quality of life for all living in the village.

During the expedition we will also be camping and staying in guest houses within the communities, allowing us to really get to know the people and their culture. The experience will not only benefit the people living in Madagascar, but us as well, as we develop our wider understanding of the world and the skills we need to use in the future.
