Story
On 29th May, I am abseiling down the Spinnaker Tower to fundraise towards my pending trip to Africa, to learn and develop for qualifying, but to also support children and their families in any way possible.
During my training as a Paediatric Nurse, an elective placement with Work the World provides the opportunity to gain experience and insight into the diverse world of Nursing. I'm utilising these 3 weeks to travel to Arusha in Tanzania, Africa.
I'll be spending 2 weeks in local hospitals, helping and supporting the team, spending time on a wide range of departments to gain a variety of experiences. I'll experience how healthcare can be adapted and delivered within under-resourced and under-staffed environments, without access to equipment we use in the UK.
I will then be travelling into rural areas of Arusha, living with the Maasai Tribe and working in local clinics.
Through learning and helping, the way I view healthcare may be changed forever. Undoubtedly, I will do my absolute best spreading positivity to those children and families in need :-)
I will gain deeper understanding of rare communicable diseases that aren't present in UK, and gain new skills with treating advanced pathologies.
By volunteering, my ultimate goal is to simply HELP. I hope to return knowing that I have, and can continue to help the local people in Arusha.
I'll be volunteering 5 days a week in the hospitals and community care, alongside orphanages and other areas that are in need of support. I hope to provide the community with needed resources such as gloves or puzzles, in addition to delivering nursing care.
Importantly, I am undertaking this experience to put a smile on a face in time of need.
Any kind donations would be greatly appreciated to allow me to additionally provide any needed nursing equipment and toys.
Without you, this opportunity wouldn't be possible.
THANK YOU ENTIRELY Xx
