Story
RAISING POUNDS FOR HOUNDS
Having been lucky enough to get a ballot place in the 2018 Virgin London Marathon (a record 386,050 applications for 50,000 places - #should’veboughtalotteryticket), I feel as if I should pass on a bit of that luck to a small local charity. I’ll therefore be running to raise funds for Greenfields Greyhound Rescue. They’re a small rescue and sanctuary for retired racing greyhounds based in the Staffordshire Moorlands. They rely solely on the support of volunteers and the kind donations of the public to be able to continue their work.
As my friends and family know, I’m very much a dog person, so if I can raise just a little bit to help even one or two dogs, then running (maybe walking!) 26.2 miles will be very worthwhile.

6 years agoA final update to say a huge thank you for all of the donations. I went to meet Caroline and the greyhounds with my family and I’m absolutely thrilled to have passed on such a large sum to them - £1044.60 in the end.

6 years agoWell, my last longish run was yesterday and the countdown begins. When I say longish, it was 10k which at this stage was so flipping lovely. I wore shorts which given the winter we’ve had I didn’t think it would ever be possible. And for the first time in months I ran without thinking about time, pace or distance. I ran because the weather was good, because I love running and because it felt great to be outside. Thank you everyone for the sponsorship so far - you’re all amazing. Even more amazing, Brian and Nigel have both found new families.
