Story
Kendob is a 16 year old girl who lives in a small village in Cambodia with her Mother Mah koi. She starts her busy day every morning at 4am to help her mum working the rice fields, collecting cockle shells. She then gets to Khmer school at 7am followed by English school at Hope Agency. Once she finishes her busy day at school, she returns home to help her mum in the rice fields, and then ends the day studying hard, to get the best education she can, to better her and her mother's life in the future. Kendob and her mum earn no more than just $2.00 a day to survive.
The conditions they are living in are truly heartbreaking. Their house is very basic, made from wood and metal, build over 20 years ago. They are unable to sleep inside as it is very hot due to the metal and with no electricity to power up any fans. They also have no toilet or kitchen facilities. The house is on its last legs, looks dangerous and is at risk of falling down. As the monsoon season is coming closer they will soon be faced with torrential rain, with no waterproof roofing to keep them dry during the nights.
My aim is to build them a new house with running water, electricity, toilet facilities and a inside area they can use and sleep in. This would forever change their lives and help Kendob with all her hard work to help better her and her mothers life In the future.
I was devastated when seeing the conditions they live in, as well as truly touched at how kind and generous Kendob and her mum are. Although they have nothing they insist of feeding myself and other volenteers every time I visit. From the moment I meet these incredible and loving people I knew I wanted to help them as much as I possibly can. With just £2000 a house with all the facilities needed can be built and I would be so greaetful if you could help me by donating towards the funds to build a house that is liveable and safe.
Thank you x

I'm currently volunteering at Hope Agency in Cambodia. 16 year old Kendob is one of our hardest working students, however she is living in impoverished conditions and struggling to survive on the very little her and her mother have. Please read her story for more details.
