Story
I am raising funds to purchase antibiotics and bladder protector for a very dear family member who is fighting constant infection due to diabetes.
Mr Poopy was rescued 7 years ago through Cat protection, Brighton. 4 Years ago I went through extreme health problems and Mr Poopy was always by my side giving me cuddles, resting his head on my chest and soothing me with his purr. Now it is my turn to look after him. 6 weeks ago he was diagnosed with diabetes, without hesitation I took the plunge to inject him twice daily at precise times and only allow him special prescription diabetic cat food. Unfortunately for cats it can take up to 3 months to get their glucose under control, his is still very high. This has meant that he has kept having UTIs with alarming amounts of blood present. This has been painful for him as well. We have gone through several courses of antibiotics, blood tests, scans etc and I was told today that if the 14 day course of bacteria-specific antibiotics he is now on doesn't fix it, he may have to remain on them for the rest of his life. These meds (not including his insulin) cost £42 a fortnight and the bladder protector which lines his bladder to help fight infection costs £14 per fortnight plus £35 for the consultation
This old gent still has so much life and love, he is not just a pet, he is family.
So far I have been able to fund his medication but am unable to do so for the next 8+ weeks. Without these antibiotics Mr Poopy experiences a lot of pain.
Please help me to help this dear friend

8 years agoJust to update everybody on Mr Poopy's progress. We are now on day 4 post-antibiotics. Watching him closely to make sure there are no signs of the bladder infection returning. He seems very well in himself. Yesterday I caught him chasing a leaf around the courtyard! I've not seen him playing for well over a year. We're assuming the diabetes is being held in check by his insulin. We've a fructosamine blood test coming up in a week (£175!) This will give the vet a view of his glucose levels over the past 4 weeks, decision can be made on dosage.

8 years agoUpdate: Mr Poopy is so much brighter although his appetite has not yet returned. The antibiotics really seem to be making a huge difference to his overall demeanor and wellbeing. He has been giving more cuddles and following me about like a lost puppy dog. Hi blood glucose has dropped massively. We are hoping to have this all under control within another 6-8 weeks. Thanks to all for your lovely messages and support
