Story
ALS is a rare but fatal neurological disease. It progressively attacks the motor neurones (nerves) in the brain and spinal cord. Motor neurones control important and essential muscle activity such as gripping, walking, speaking, swallowing and breathing. There is no current cure with the average survival of someone diagnosed with ALS being three to five years.
In June I will compete in the Windsor Olympic distance triathlon (alongside Sam Richardson), which consists of a 1500m swim, 40km bike ride and a 10km run to raise funds to support research into this area.
Any financial support will be donated directly to www.alsa.org/research/ which is an organisation that fuels global collaboration to expedite the discovery of treatments and a cure for ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) - often referred to as Motor Neurone Disease or Lou Gehrig's disease.
As an incentive to donate, I promise to pledge 25p on every pound up to the fundraising target for this campaign. If I lose to Sam Richardson, I pledge to donate 50p on every pound (its likely I will lose) - which would be a combined total of 600GBP towards a great cause
