    Story

    Hi,

This year Raz, Ellen and I have decided to raise money for two charities, both of which are close to ours. We've decided to run a pub quiz in Cardiff (where we all study) to try and raise as much as we can. The two charities we are raising money for are Marfans Trust UK and Jane Scarth House.

Jane Scarth House is particularly close to my heart as sadly late last year a family friend passed away of breast cancer but Jane Scarth House supported her and her family enormously. It is a charity aimed at supporting those living with cancer and their families and does so much amazing work. This charity has been wonderful in so many ways for our family friends as well as my mother and all the mums in our close knit village. Raising money for this charity will enable others in our local community get such incredible emotional and practical support. Here is the website if anyone would like to contact them or donate straight to their page: https://www.janescarthhouse.co.uk/

Marfan Trust is a UK based charity that raises funds for patients with Marfan’s Syndrome. For those who know me (Razik), you will know that I have Marfan’s. It is the most common genetic tissue disorder but every year it continues to be one of the biggest causes of death in the young. It comes with a huge number of cardiac complications that fly under the radar until it is too late. By donating you will not be only be doing me a huge favour, but you will also be helping the families that are struggling with the diagnosis and you will be directly funding research to give patients a better chance at life. When I was born in 1998 the expected life expectancy for Marfan’s was 33, it is now just 10 year below the UK average. With your donations we can give patients a happy full life to look forward to. Together let’s raise awareness and save some lives. Here is the link for their website if you want to read more about the condition or if you want to fundraiser for them or make a direct donation http://www.marfantrust.org/

Huge thanks to everyone who donates/supports/comes to our quiz!

    Love,

    Raz, Ellen and Tom
