    Story

22 January is a very important day, and all 5 million Scots need to know it.

The Edinburgh Yes Hub is working with others like Scottish CND, to make sure everyone knows that this is the day the BOMB IS BANNED. Stewart Bremner has designed us great images and we are infiltrating cities with posters and projections and billboard trailers with our good news. Plenty ops for photos and social media as part of the action. But it all costs money and the Hub needs to raise our share.

The Edinburgh Yes Hub works for a better Scotland and we do what we can to enable Scotland – right now - to be a country that contributes to international peace and justice. We are part of the global movement to ban nuclear weapons and we want everyone to know how important Scotland could be in that movement.

Help us to tell the truth about the new global treaty to ban nuclear weapons supported by 122 out of of the 193 UN members. Its called The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) was adopted at the UN in 2017, and comes into force on 22 Jan 21.In this country (see www.nuclearban.scot) people don’t know it is happening because it is not being reported.

Nuclear weapons are the most inhumane and indiscriminate weapons ever created. They violate international law, cause severe environmental damage, undermine national and global security, and divert vast public resources away from meeting human needs, and until 2017 and the TPNW, they were the only weapons of mass destruction that were not subject to an international ban. When campaigners around the world achieved that, they were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

But even with their weapons in Scotland, and our anti-nuclear Government, the nuclear-armed governments are shamefully ignoring the TPNW. We need everyone in Scotland to know that the UK nuclear weapons on the Clyde can be banned by countries that join this landmark treaty. When the mainstream media don’t tell the story we do it ourselves Scotland can be a safe country for women and girls, known for its contribution to international peace & justice rather than being a launch pad for waging war.
