There are a lot of amazing people out there raising money some truly amazing charities but I thought i'd do something a little bit different by trying to raise money for a community sports club made up of a group of extremely talented young people one of which being my daughter.
A bit about the club.
Spirit Acrobatic Gymnastics is a small non-profit making club looking to expand in to there own premises. All money raised through Gymnasts memberships and other community fund raising events which are organised solely by coaches and parents goes back into the the club to buy new kit/equipment for the club.
Training is currently 3 times a wk and takes place at a sports centre, this means the gymnasts have to set up all the equipment at the beginning of every session and store it all at the end which eats in to the training time by 30-40mins per session. The committee have recently found a new ideal premises which would be there own to leave all the equipment out permenently giving the gymnasts and extra 1-2 hrs of training a wk.
So what am I going to do?
I'm currently getting ready to deploy in the next few wks on a ship for around 5 months visiting several countries, and wanted to do something for the club whilst I'm away. I originally wanted to run a marathon in every country we visit BUT, injury has unfortunatley slowed my training down. Instead I'm going to run a minimum of a half marathon distance in every country I visit with the aim to run 2 full marathons by the end of the deployment.
I started training in January, I'm not much of a distance runner and before this year had never really ran over 3 miles. There might be a few stops along the way where running on the road might be unachievable in this case i'll do it on a treadmill (worse case). I will endeavour to post as many pictures/videos along the way but will be unable to give times and dates before hand.
