PENWITH WELCOMES REFUGEES PRESENTS: MILES IN MAY!

Over the month of May - volunteers are running, walking, swimming or cycling their way to a goal of one of three chosen distances - (all of which are refugee routes) to raise money for Penwith Welcomes Refugees. The routes are: The English Channel - 35.5km, Damasacus to Beirut - 114km, Paris to London - 469.5km. Please show your support to our amazing volunteers by donating whatever you can - no matter how big or small!

Penwith Welcomes Refugees is a Community Sponsorship Group. Community Sponsorship is a government-led programme which resettles vulnerable refugees from war torn countries and welcomes them into communities throughout the UK, enabling them to rebuild their lives.

Last summer we surpassed our £9,000 fundraising target required by the Home Office thanks to all the generous support from our local community. We are now continuing to raise funds to help us support the family for a longer period of time, post settlement.

The money will be used to secure a property for the family to live in, English lessons, clothing and school uniforms, furnishing the property, interpretation services and other costs incurred during the resettlement process. We will provide ongoing support and encouragement to the family, both financially and through befriending, so that they can access employment, education, healthcare and other community services. Our goal is to ensure that the family live secure, independent and empowering lives in the UK.
