    Story

This isn’t Clair‘s story, as her story is one filled with love, family and happiness, along with its share of challenges that needed real perseverance to come through smiling. But unfortunately this will be about writing her final chapters that will live on in memory and inspire others to listen to Clair’s message.

Clair is a loving Mum, Wife, Daughter and friend to many that has been diagnosed with cancer, while enjoying the challenges of bringing up her children while still on maternity leave. Sebastian, Olivia and Elliot will sadly be losing their Mum to this horrible illness, which is so hard for me to write let alone for Clair and her family to live through. I want to support Clair in getting out her selfless message to try and ensure this doesn’t happen to others, by getting yourself checked out and seeing a doctor if you have any concerns, regardless of any lockdown, pandemic or any other reason you may be able to find to put getting checked out. Check yourself regularly and if you find a change or have any concern whatsoever then go to the doctor and get it checked. You are not a burden and it has all been seen before, do not let it wait or think they are too busy caring for others!

As well as supporting this message, we feel incredibly strongly that we should support Clair enjoy the time she has left with her family making special memories and enjoy time together that they will never forget. My ultimate goal would be to raise enough for Clair and her family to go and enjoy the “once in a lifetime“ events that we all hope to do, like taking her children to Lapland or her ultimate “bucket list“ moment but I know this is asking a lot with everything that is going on in 2020. However, if we can raise enough for a short break, or special times together making memories, videos and pictures that will be with them all for ever, then putting myself through a pretty ambitious fundraiser would be very worthwhile.

Myself and Lewis Selby will be running 2 marathons, 1 on Friday 13th November and the other the day after on Saturday 14th November. One marathon will be for Clair, who is going through extremely tough treatment and the most difficult period of her life, the other is for her family and friends who will need to be strong throughout this and continue to be afterwards, as I know Clair will want them to be strong and fight on even through the darkest and most difficult times ahead. We will be running these two marathons the weekend before Clair has her own challenge of further chemo in November. I am not some sort of super fit runner or regular marathon runner, at the point of writing this my last run was 3 months ago and just a 1 mile run with my daughter, but pushing through what we think is possible will be done by Clair and her family many times over the coming months so I am going to try and do the same in support.

Please support these good people going through an impossible time by donating to this cause if you can. 100% of the money raised will go to Clair and her family. If we can support them make memories then it will change lives, equally if we can support them so that Clair‘s children can be distracted away from the effects of her treatment and ease financial concern, then we are all supporting a great cause for a lovely family.

Thank you so much for the support and generous donations received so far! In a change of plan, we are going to run the two marathons over 2 days to enable people desperate to help to get involved. This includes family, friends and colleagues. I hope this hasn't mislead anyone who has kindly donated as it will still be a huge challenge with the same distance covered, but it will enable more people to get involved and raise much needed support for this lovely family. Thanks to your support we have increased the target for this fundraiser also.
