Story
2020 has been a strange and testing year for many of us. With Hong Kong quarantine meaning we are flat-bound for 2 weeks, we wanted to make the most of our time stuck indoors and give back to those who are suffering in much more difficult living conditions; which in many cases have worsened during the pandemic.
On Friday 4th September starting at 8pm HKT, we will be attempting to cycle the distance from the virus epicentre of Wuhan to Hong Kong, non-stop across the weekend. Taking it in turns on an indoor bike, our challenge is to complete the enormous 919km pedal within 48hrs. That is the equivalent of 21 English Channel crossings, 94 laps of Central Park or 671 gallops around Happy Valley racecourse.
All proceeds will go to Feeding Hong Kong. The charity was set up in 2011 to collect, sort and redistribute surplus stock from food companies to underprivileged residents of Hong Kong. Every day, 3,600 tonnes of food waste is sent to landfills, whilst more than 1 million people (13% of the population) live in poverty and struggle to afford nutritious meals. Covid-19 has halted regular volunteers (including Mini!) from assisting distribute food supplies, so funding is needed now more than ever.
Thank you in advance for your kind donations to this great cause and slightly mad challenge.
