Weʼve raised £6,540 to Support Missing Pets, Perth & Kinross

    Story

For over 10 years Missing Pets Perth and Kinross has been helping reunite lost and found animals with their families. We’ve also helped stray animals along the way and even cared for various wildlife.

We know first hand how animals are a such a huge part of the family and that’s why we are so passionate and determined to help them as much as we can.

Members of the Missing Pets Perth & Kinross team have experienced first hand what it’s like to have a beloved pet go missing so know as well as the practical and hands on help we know it’s important to offer emotional support too.

We really want to be a support network for any help an owner needs.

Over the years as Missing Pets has grown we have faced more and more complex searches. Thanks to everyones kindness and generosity we have been able to purchase equipment like head torches, hand held torches, slip leads, trail cameras, walkie talkies and binoculars that not only can our team use but we can loan out to family’s on searches too.

We then have our more advance equipment like drones and our two thermal scopes which have been without a shadow of a doubt literal life savers. They have found missing dogs in areas where there is no way we would have been able to spot them without such advances technology.

We are always looking at ways on how we can improve on searches and what kit could benefit us, owners and their missing pets.

We recently got to borrow a more advanced thermal scope from another SAR team and it kind of shocked us at just how incredible and clear the images were. While the scopes we use are high range this one is on another level in terms of the distance it covers combined with the sharpness of picture quality.

The team have discussed the benefits of having a 3rd thermal scope and we agree it’s definitely needed for if we have multiple searches in different locations at once which we are finding happening more and more and also to have a scope that’s more on the advanced side for particular difficult areas like wide open countryside and hills for example.

In 2022 we started fundraising for this scope but we also started helping out a lot more in "Stray" animal cases - specifically cats that were in need of emergency vet care. Sadly these costs have eaten up the small savings we had designed to go towards this scope. If there is an animal in urgent need then that will always take priority. This does go beyond what we thought we would be doing but we can't see any animal suffering.

This year we do have a lot of exciting things planned for missing pets but first of all we are going to fundraise for a third thermal scope to be able to help missing pets and their family’s even more.

Katie and Scott are going to take the plunge by doing a sponsored zipline and swing at Highland Fling in Killiekrankie!

Killiekrankie Zip Park consists of a series of 9 zip lines going from tree to tree and twice crossing the river Garry.

The Highland Swing is the first purpose-built, permanent swing platform from a bridge in Britain. The swing platform is 40 meters above the River Garry!

Katie and Scott will be facing their fears in April all for an extremely worthy cause.

Thank you so much everyone for all your continued help and support.

Much love the Missing Pets Perth & Kinross family ❤️
