Hey all!

My name is Tola Adekanmbi. I'm a 27 year old nurse from London. I'm currently finishing a postgraduate in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing in which I will be a Health Visitor.

My church Jesus House London are collaborating with Action in Focus to send 23 members of our church to Masai Mara in Kenya to help those in need of basic medical care who simply can not afford it. The Kenyan population have many health needs as it is a developing country and we are going as a team to treat and also try to educate them. The key health challenges in the area for the underprivileged are Hypertension, Diabetes, High Cholesterol, and Lack of Health Screening for Pregnant Women, lack of formal Cervical and Breast Screening.

The team will consist of 10 medical staff, 11 non medical staff and two students. We will be taking medical supplies over on our trip and this mission is all self funded. The trip will be on the 3rd-12th November 2017.

I visited Kenya last year and visited a orphanage where my heart was overwhelmed. To see all these children that were full of joy despite their situation was such an emotional, life changing experience. As part of the mission trip we will be visiting an orphanage which houses up to 1000 orphaned children and we will be taking donated clothes, shoes and toys for these children.

Going on this mission trip would give me the opportunity to be able to help and show Christ's love to others and literally just to give a little back. It has always been a passion of mine to volunteer for charity work that will make a difference in people’s lives, particularly those less fortunate. So please help me get there!
