UPDATE TWO - CAROLINA REAPER (31st October) 2, 200, 000 Scovilles

STORY

As part of our persuasion unit of work in English, the children were asked to write me a letter of persuasion in an attempt to make me eat, film and share the experience of eating the world's hottest pepper: the Carolina Reaper. Any money raised will go into the prize fund which the children and I will use to buy items to fill the prize tray; these items will be paid for with raffle tickets which the children earn each week through their own hard work.

As a background to my experience of hot food, I haven't eaten a curry that is spicier than a Korma and when asked if I like hot food, I say no.

HOW HOT IS THE CAROLINA REAPER?

As the hottest chili pepper in the world currently, the heat range is listed from 1,400,000 Scoville Heat Units on the Scoville Scale to a blazing 2,200,000. Compared to your average jalapeno pepper, it measures 175 to 880 times hotter. Compare that to a typical jalapeno pepper, which averages about 5,000 Scoville Heat Units, and the hottest Carolina Reaper is up to 440 times hotter. That is crazy hot!
