Converting a bus seemed a cost-effective and practical solution to the problem of providing safe accommodation for our homeless. A double Decker bus can cost in the region of £8,000 to buy and Costing less than £30,000 to convert a bus to include, beds, toilets and facilities for people to wash and dry their clothes, shower, eat and relax. Creating a place for all year round services to those in immediate need. Providing a homeless person a safe environment to sleep access to washing facilities and a PO-BOX to receive mail and have a “registered address” thus eliminating the loophole of difficulties that result in getting a job and being able to move on wards and up! This gives them the much needed support and drive power to re-establish themselves with dignity instead of the hopeless feeling of being stuck with no light at the end of the tunnel. In reality, anyone who would go to the council to register as homeless could be signposted to the shelter if nothing else is available. Working in collaboration with the street warden Rob Harriman and the local community. The aim is to break the cycle and routine of homelessness and allow the homeless people to regain their dignity and place in society. to find a practical solution in the meantime people are still sleeping rough on the streets and the numbers are becoming overwhelming. By the time such strategies have been revised the numbers will be beyond imaginable if the rate continues in its present state so by raising this small amount of funds to create a project as such is what we feel the only way to speed the availability of emergency housing needs;
