Story

As many of you will know, on the 21st of December 2023, our clubhouse was completely destroyed in a deliberate act of arson. This page is to raise funds to allow us to purchase a temporary facility (marquee) to provide changing and toileting facilities to the players (both home and away teams) and spectators across the 2024 season.

Monkswood CC is a small club with a history extending over 60 years. We are funded entirely by our own members and through voluntary donations. The club is widely recognised within South Wales and has provided quality cricket to many local people throughout the course of it's history. Some specific examples include:

- A youth section that was run for many years which, in turn, has established our first XI (8 of whom are aged 30 or below).

- Whilst being unable to retain our youth section in recent years, members of the club have volunteered at local primary schools and other local clubs to introduce cricket to young children.

- Recently, we have established a partnership with Panteg Cricket Club. This secures a second team at Monkswood which is primarily used for senior members and promising young talent. In relation to the latter, this is often their first experience of senior cricket.

- A picturesque ground that is used for other activities and members of the community.

We would ask for this page to be considered against a backdrop of struggling participation within South Wales cricket. We are very keen to ensure that we are able to play cricket in the upcoming 2024 season and, as we seek more secure funding long term to rebuild our club house, we invite donations (large or small) so that we can fund a season long temporary facility to provide changing and toileting facilities.
