Weʼve raised £380 to help our friend and former work colleague, Nick Smith, who has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease

Funded on Wednesday, 27th December 2017

    Story

Nick is just 37 years old, husband, and dad of two young children and has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). MND is a severely life shortening condition that progressively damages parts of the nervous system. As the condition progresses, people with motor neurone disease will find walking, breathing, swallowing and speaking increasingly difficult. Eventually, they may become impossible.

Andrew Cross and I are two former work colleagues who decided to undertake the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge (a 24 mile route taking in the three highest peaks in Yorkshire) to raise money to support Nick and his young family.

Nick is genuinely one of the world's good guys, diligent in his professional life and a devoted family man. He was also a top amateur rugby league player and captained Siddal ARLFC.

Please help us raise money to support Nick and his family with this destructive disease.

Any contribution big or small will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your generous support.

Andrew and I successfully completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks on Friday 27th October and hobbled over the finish line in 10 hours and 36 minutes. Not bad considering we'd decided on the challenge 48 hours earlier, are far from fit and hadn't done any training. Thanks to everyone who has made a contribution so far. Please help us reach our target.

Shows there is no justice in this world. I hope Nick has the dignity and comfort of financial security and can get the support he and his family will need to deal with the progression of MND.
