What are we doing?

15 senior players are undertaking a 20 mile sponsored walk in order to raise funds for the club. The walk will take place on 7 April 2018 and see us walk from the club itself to Dovestone Reservoir. Once there, we will take in a lap of the Reservoir before hiking all the way back to the club.

Why are we doing it?

Mottram Cricket Club is a registered CASC (charitable amateur sports club - CAS02629) and has long relied on external sources of funding and the generosity of members in order to ensure its facilities are maintained.

Here at Mottram we are very proud of the work we do throughout the cricket season to engage young people and offer them an alternative to sitting in front of a computer screen all night.

Our Friday night junior practice sessions have been well attended for a number of years with circa 40-50 children, aged six to sixteen, taking to the field and enjoying an evening's cricket. (Note, we run four junior teams who compete in a league format on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays.)

Unfortunately, some of the facilities and equipment that we use in order to put on these junior sessions have fallen into disrepair and need replacing/repairing. With external funding opportunities few and far between we have had to consider alternative fundraising opportunities and thus the senior players have come together and arranged a sponsored walk.
