Story
Mulier Fundamentum is an unregistered charity that promotes maternal health and wellbeing in order to enable safe childbirth by offering access to sexual and reproductive health services, including family planning. It exists to provide and assist in the provision of facilities, support services and equipment not normally provided by the statutory authorities. It also raises awareness about maternal death, violence against women, female genital mutilation and child marriage in Africa.
According to WHO (2015) 99% of all maternal deaths occur in developing countries.Women die as a result of complications during and following pregnancy and childbirth. Most of these complications are preventable or treatable. Severe bleeding, infection, high blood pressure during pregnancy, complications from delivery and unsafe abortion. Women do not get the care they need because of poverty, distance, lack of information, inadequate services and cultural practices. Maternity units lack equipment to monitor fetal and maternal wellbeing and drugs supplies for emergency obstetric care. Make a difference! DONATE! Help us to inform, encourage and support women to access to antenatal care in pregnancy. Help us to raise funds to provide Cardiotocograph (CTG) machines to maternities in Africa so they can monitor fetal welbeing in labour.CTG monitoring is used to assess fetal heart rate and maternal contractions when risk arise in labour. It provides important information about fetal wellbeing. Well used is a life saving tecnology. This project is specifically for Guinea Bissau and St. Tome e Principe as we will be visiting these two African countries again in March and August of 2017.
