During the May half-term holiday, Isla and Alice's school suffered two break-ins in quick succession, resulting in £15,000 worth of IT equipment being stolen, none of which are covered by the school's insurance policies taken out through the local authority and equally, none of which the school's already stretched budget can afford to replace.

The headteacher mentioned that children within the school are already questioning 'why would somebody take things that help us learn?' and are asking 'how are we going to learn computing without computers or ipads?' And they are right to question this as, until the school is in a position to replace this equipment, it is severely hampered in its ability to teach integral computing knowledge and skills to the children that are entitled to them, particularly in this digital age we live in. It's not fair that this should happen to anyone, but it's especially unfair that someone would do this to young children.

In the few years the girls have been at their small school, we've seen the staff work tirelessly to fund raise for worthy causes. Despite ongoing budget cuts and an already crippling workload, the school has repeatedly gone the extra mile to teach our children the importance of positivity, community and respect. Unfortunately, this situation has meant that this school is now the 'worthy cause'.
