Tania needs our help. She is one of the kindest, most intelligent and resourceful people I know. She is the essence of good in this world. She was a midwife caring for others, as well her husband and family, when she was struck by fibromyalgia a few years ago. As the situation worsened with pains, aches, gradual immobility and a foggy brain, she lost the ability to work, and to operate independently. She started to use a wheelchair and she and her husband spent considerable funds making her car and her home accessible for her. Meanwhile, the UK government has implemented ruthless new legislation which has drastically cut the support afforded to people who are vulnerable in our society. Years of work and paying into the national system account for nothing. Tania has been deemed able enough to get along and work, while her husband who has been affected by anxiety and bouts of depression exacerbated by the entire situation, has been left in the cold and also had his care cut. £200 a week between 2 people to pay for utilities, food, transport and rent.... well you can see the problem.... The crux of the story is that the support they once received to allow them to survive has now been reduced to the point where their lives are looking very difficult with no car and no ability to get back into work; no psychological support in any way.

There is hope however. Tania took up painting to ease her condition. It turns out she is extremely talented and her sunny, gorgeous personality is reflected in the work she produces. A local gallery took note of her work after seeing one of her paintings and allowed her a small space in their gallery. She has received a lot of very positive feedback and started to create and sell works to locals. But for her to carve a viable future for herself and her husband, she needs to get people to know about her. There is a unique opportunity for her to relocate to a currently delapidated space where she could make her work more visible and try to make a new go of things. To create a new life and earn a living as an artist without having to think about what the government will and won't take away. Without sleepless nights and days filled with dread. Everyone deserves the chance to feel worthy of respect and dignity.

Any one of us can fall prey to illness at any time in our life. We shape the society we live in and I would like to help Tania start again.
