Story
Hello, my name is Sophie. I'm 21 and I suffer with chronic pain and seizures, both of which are undiagnosed and have been ongoing for almost 3 years.
My seizures are complicated. They present many different ways, from grand mal/ tonic clonic to absent. A lot of the time they're tonic clonic, meaning I thrash about and injure myself, this makes waking up out of them a very scary and uncomfortable time. I've dislocated my joints and given myself concussion, fallen down stairs and in the middle of the street.
While I'm grateful that I don't have epilepsy I'm also upset that doctors haven't been able to find a cause. Its upsetting that they've seemed to have given up in trying to find a cause and all the while I still get hurt. I've done all I can on my end, ive had my boyfriend film the seizures. I've gone into hospital, I've worked out my triggers, which is where your donation comes in.
One of my biggest triggers at the moment is my asthma and allergies. When my airways close up during hot days or high pollen days, I fall into a seizure(they're usually small ones) and sometimes come around to an oxygen mask on from the paramedics(when seizures last over 5 minutes, this is rare for me)
When oxygen is provided or a nebuliser in hospital I come around far quicker and the after effects of the seizure wear off incredibly fast.
Now while I adore the NHS my doctor won't give me a nebuliser or oxygen due to funding. I've tried to beg for it but it doesn't seem to be happening, however they suggested Amazon; to get my own. Wonderful! Although I'm too unwell to work, I have absolutely no money at all.
Something that can make my terrifying experience just a little more comfortable and give me less anxiety about going out.
I've asked for £60 to cover the cost of a decent nebuliser, saline (suggested by the doctor) and postage.
I hope that you can help me, please follow me on instagram to see my progress! (twistedchronicwarrior)
Thank you
