    Story

HELP US PROVIDE PPE VISORS FOR KEY WORKERS THEN GIVE PRINTER TO SCHOOLS.

Planet 3D World in Birmingham is making protective visors for NHS staff. We will purchase additional 3D printer to make even more masks. The printer will be operated by Les Sheppard, Planet 3D World and printer can make hundreds a week.

The 3D Printer will be going into a FREE raffle to help schools who don't have the funds to buy printers to help the DT Product Design work. Each donation welcome to nominate school for raffle. The raffle will be filmed and results will be shared.

Planet 3D is responding to a request from National 3D Printing Society. The Original aim of the N3DPS is a non profit organisation to connect like minded societies to allow cooperation and help further the field of student 3D printing.

Recently, however, they have pivoted their resources to build a network specifically for 3D printing face shields for our NHS staff, to assist with the national shortage of PPE. N3DPS just had their design approved for use in hospitals across the UK.

The simple design with quick printing times and low production cost, as well as a distribution network that covers the whole of the UK. This will help to maximise the impact we have on NHS front line workers as well as care homes and other surgeries.

Working with existing NHS suppliers, we are the only initiative in the UK with the ability to ensure PPE gets to where it is needed most on a national level.

Planet 3D team have responded quickly to the call from N3DPS “ The government’s advice to stay home and stay safe, however we’re desperate to try and help wherever we can. All the NHS staff are on the frontline risking their lives to keep us well and we’ll be forever thankful to them for that. When N3DPS got in touch it took moments for us to get our MakerBot Replicator+ and Z18 printing Face Shields then put a plan together. We take delivery of our next two printers on Tuesday 14th April and Les will start ramping the production up straight away.”

Planet 3D needs your help to buy a MakerBot Replicator+ that can make 40 visors per printer per day. These frames will be sent to a central assembly point to be connected to the screens, sterilised and then delivered to the NHS.

Dr Alex Moghissi “There is huge concern that we may not have enough full PPE. We are part of a group of pan Camden GPs who send clinical staff to the central Camden ‘hot’ hub for Covid 19 – these staff need full PPE including visors. Clinical and non clinical staff in both my practices also need varying levels of protection when they’re working from the practice or visiting patients at home. We need to source more visors urgently. Any help you could offer would help to protect NHS staff and save lives.”
