Jake has wanted his own dog for a while but it's hard to know which one would be the best fit for an energetic autistic boy.
We met Caroline from Therapy Dogs at Dog Fest on 17th June and were amazed by what they can do to help autistic children.
Jake fell in love with the puppy they had there (Reggie) and is now desperate for a therapy friend.
They cost over £6000 fully trained which includes family training to get the best out of the relationship.
So,we need help to raise enough to get Jake one of these special friends.
Jake's dad & I both work, though on most days one of us is at home, so we don't need to raise the full amount but obviously the more help we can get, all the better.
It's a long process, as initial training takes 12 months and that's before the dog even comes into our home, specific training for Jake's needs & family training take place around that time.
Jake needs help with anxiety, sleeping, stress, loneliness & anger amongst other things and these therapy dogs help with all of these issues.
The dog would support him in such a special way, it would become his best friend, it would be with him all the time, even sharing his bed 💙
