Story
My name is Clara, I have been paying for hospital bills for premature babies in Ghana for the past 15 years, so mothers can go home with their babies.
These babies are detained in the hospital until somebody pays their hospital bills. I need some help to make sure no well baby spends extra time in hospital, especially at Christmas, while their mothers can only see them 3 time in the day and no contact with mummy or daddy from 6pm till 6am.
It's very heartbreaking to see these tiny babies without their mothers for so long, and it's even worse when a mother can not hold her premature baby in the night just because they have no money. Most times, by the time someone pays for these babies to go home, the mother’s breast milk has dried up and because they have become penniless, they can not afford to feed the babies and some end up dying.
The money raised will pay the hospital bills so the babies can go home with their parents. The money will also buy milk and nappies to support the parents and to ensure that these babies do not just go home but stay alive. I am sure you will agree with me that the best present anybody can have at anytime is the gift of life. It warms my heart to see the smile of a mother with her baby in her arms, covering the baby with her warmth and love. I give the biggest thanks to you from myself on behalf of the babies, their families and nurses, and with every mother's smile I send a festive or end of year cheer to you. Please note that I do all this by myself with the help of few volunteers, so every penny raised goes directly towards the babies' needs. Thank you for supporting my efforts.
