    Story

At 5 weeks old Summer was diagnosed with a hole between her heart and lungs which untill the 25th of january this year she has been in and out of Kingfishers peadeatric ward with breathing difficulty and has needed extra help with it. We feel that in this case just buying a box of chocolates isnt really enough to say thankyou to these nurses after all the help they gave her. I stayed on the ward the entire time the first time my daughter went in and got ill with a cold after we came out after a 5 days stay which for me isnt anything major but ended up making my daughter very ill again as her little body couldnt cope with it on top of having the extra breathing problems. These nurses helped so much to the point where i could go home at night time. They spent hours cuddling and rocking my daughter to sleep because she was hard to settle from being on reduced feed and never once did any of them complain about it. Some of her first smiles were to those nurses. Nurses never actually get enough credit for what they actually do its not just giving out medication or changing bed sheets they‘re there caring for your loved ones may it be your child wife husband grandparent when they get a lot of stick and could just say you know what why am i doing this. I found it incredibly hard all the hospital trips and those nurses made it possible for me to have a break from it because as horrible as it was leaving my daughter it was also incredibly heart breaking watching her hooked up to all the machines and that break i got from the nurses looking after her helped me as well as her because all parents have their breaking points and i was very lucky i didnt hit mine threw that time. So we‘ve decided to raise some money for the nurses to go towards something to help make their shift even better even if its just to make there staff room more comfortable on there breaks or something like that because nurses dont actually get enough appreciation for what they actually do :)
