Having sat here in my pj's here on Godber Ward at Bedford Hospital for 3 weeks so far i have seen many patients come and go.

There have been so, so many diabetic patients in and out the ward requiring a huge amount of support and close assessment. Unfortunately the ward share a diabetic testing kit and a ketone testing kit with another.

A fellow patient who has become a great friend and will now be a friend for life rode a very rocky ride whilst in here with her diabetes. Within moments her blood sugar went from OK - to worrying - to very concerning in a short space of time. The poor staff had to run around and find the vital piece of kit to ensure she didnt go into a diabetic coma.

Any additional money raised over and above what is required will be given to them to buy any other items like this that they need.

Please give generously as every single moment really does make a massive difference to the staff looking after a diabetic patient and to the result for those who are poorly.
