Can you help us please? Rascal, our beloved parson russell terrier, full of energy, character and fun, was attacked by two akitas. From his screams it was obviously painful and following referral to a vetinerary specialist hospital, an X-ray and MRI scan revealed a fracture of the spine and displaced disc. His only chance of a normal life is surgery to remove the disc and stitch the vertebrae with steel pins. This is being done today. He will then remain in hospital for 1-3 weeks, followed by potentially months of special care at home. Although it is a big undertaking and life changing for us all, he is our baby and we have to do it. All we have to do now is fund it! The photo was taken while we were at the vets awaiting referral to the specialist.

UPDATE: Three hours after surgery Rascal was trying to walk on his back legs and the ongoing prognosis is about as good as we could hope for.
